| It refers to the black and Afro-half caste people (“Orientales”), who in a melancholy long and repetitive tune, do not receive the “porteño” echo of an already extinguished culture in Buenos Aires. It is a” milongón” built on a slow candombe base, that includes a percussion instrument called “mate” or “calabaza” that imitates the beats of the piano drum and gently invites to a harmonious seductive dance. The lyrics say “Hear now, black voice, the echoes now already gone…” |

| This tango piece is a homage to the place where I have my studio. For more than 20 years, the Viejo Hotel has been the ideal place for music lessons, talks, meetings, rehearsals and guided tours. Located at the Galería del Viejo Hotel, a two-story old building in the heart of San Telmo originally used to house immigrant families, then as a brothel, to finally end up as a motel.
The coda includes a Piazzollan phrase as an homage to the great Astor. |

| This piece built on candombe and milonga campera rythms aroused my desire to merge our music with the candombe from the neighboring River Plate banks. The theme includes a rhythm in drums known as candombe antiguo, and upon the end, a Montevidean”llamada” (drums celebration). A memory to my beloved grandparents, as all of them were Italian immigrants. |
